Introduction:
Funwave Foods LLP, a pioneering entity in the frozen foods industry, recently held the “Khedut Senh Milan Samaroh” at Himatnagar, Gujarat. This event, the first of its kind by Funwave Foods, aimed to enhance precision farming practices and eliminate farm-level wastage. The initiative underscores the company’s commitment to sustainable agriculture and value chain optimization, from raw materials to finished products.
A Milestone Event for Agricultural Advancement
At the heart of the event was a comprehensive farmer meet and training program, designed to educate and empower growers with the best agricultural practices. Funwave Foods operates on a “Contract Farming Model” with a vast network of 600 growers spread across 3,500 acres in six states. The company processes 50,000 tons of potatoes each season, consistently expanding its processing capacity to meet the growing demand for high-quality French fries. By 2027, Funwave Foods aims to collaborate with 2,000 growers and manage 10,000 acres, processing up to 1.5 million tons of potatoes.
Leadership and Innovation in Agronomy
The event was spearheaded by Vaibhav Joshi, Funwave Foods’ Agronomy Business Manager, alongside a dedicated team of agronomists. The team provided valuable insights into sustainable farming practices, emphasizing a cost-plus-margin model in contract farming. Key topics included potato seed treatments, soil preparation, green manuring, crop rotation, micro irrigation systems, and the use of green chemicals for biodiversity. Additionally, the team introduced improved harvesting systems and grading processes to enhance yield quality and reduce farm-level wastage.
Sustainability and Zero Wastage
Funwave Foods is committed to ensuring zero wastage at the farm level. The company advocates for careful handling of produce, emphasizing that a grower’s responsibility extends beyond harvest. Proper storage practices are crucial to minimizing wastage and maintaining the quality of produce until it reaches cold storage facilities.
Building Strong Grower Relationships
The success of Funwave Foods’ initiatives is built on strong relationships with growers, fostered through trust, dependability, realistic expectations, a positive outlook, and deep caring. The agronomy team’s efforts have been instrumental in establishing a foundation of collaboration and sustainability. Farmers, working tirelessly to bring food to our tables, find a reliable partner in Funwave Foods.
Innovation and Market Expansion
Funwave Foods operates with the motto “Potato Handle Like Egg,” reflecting their meticulous approach to quality and care. As the company steadily increases its market share in dehydrated potatoes, its ultimate goal is to deliver “Bite-Size Happiness” through responsibly farmed potato products.
